Olympia Publishers

I've heard back from the publishers I mentioned. Their name is Olympia Publishers and they liked my work. However, they demanded a contribution of £3,700 to help pay towards the costs of publishing, yet they insisted they weren't vanity publishers!!!! Stay well clear of them is my advice.

So, the hunt continues. I've contacted several literary agents via email, as its pretty expensive printing off sample chapters to send to all and sundry. Surely in this day and age of communicating through cyberspace, paperless, environmentally-friendly emails should be the norm? Also, email allows you to check out contacts across the globe. Some of the messages in the rejections have been heartening, but I'm still searching for that needle in a haystack that will be a contract from a literary agent or a publisher.

Wish me luck!

Hi Stuart just read your comment regarding Olympia Publishing. They are nothing but con men. In desperation to be a known author they conned me twice out of large sums of money. They promised good contacts and media advertising, what did I get? a big fat nothing! I have since published both books plus a third on Kindle direct and sold more in the first month than Olympia sold in 5 years.

Are these the Olympia Publishers of 60 Cannon Street?
If so they have also accepted my intial submission.
I don't think I'll follow up with the complete manuscript

Does anyone know how Kindle direct works?

Kindle Direct Publishing is very easy. The instructions take you through the process step by step.

Hey man, getting published is really all about sweat and tears at the onset. Just dont find enough reason to sit back and give up after spending so much time writing. I sincerely hope by the time this reaches you a breakthrough of sorts will have come your way. Have been writing from 1976 and have got several manuscripts all waiting to find a publisher. My country (Zimbabwe) is under an unofficial blacklist of some sort and although I am not a politician I have toiled and reaped very little in much of what i do. I have sent two of my titles to Createspace and am just scrimping and struggling to save just enough to order copies of my own books.
Its all so frustrating knowing that I may never reap the rewards of what has been been my favourite passion.
i started writing at age twenty four and now I am over fifty! At least out there you have everything at your fingertips...
Good luck.

I am glad to have read your comments before contacting Olympia Publishers and also please keep away from Xlibris Publishing. I have my first short novel published after being asked for about £3000.00 for marketing and it has been a year and a half and my books seems to be everywhere. I have not received any royalties and I am now struggling to get any information from them. Some kind of law should come out to stop these companies from scamming Authors.

Just got offered a deal from Austin and MaCauley and guess what, they want me to contribute £2600 towards publishing my own book. Err, no thanks. Just got an email from Olympus requesting the full manuscript but I can't even be arsed to send the email. Oh well, at least I can say I was offered a publishing contract!

Monica, Forget it.
This is vanity publishing by any other name. You could get your book printed for about £250 if you wanted, but you do not have the ability to advertise the same way as a genuine publisher has.
I also just got scammed by Olympia Publishing, but do not yet have any figure as to what they require me to pay over 10 months. Royalties at 10 per cent mean that selling about 5,000 copies might make you a little money!
Best of Luck.

I am a new author and submitted childrens stories to both Austin Macauley and Olympia. Both seem interested in my work but AMc want £2500-£4000 and Olympia want more stories...not sure what to do...£2.50 royalties with AMc but only 25 copies of book plus posters p cards book marks etc.
The more you pay the more marketing you receive it seems.
I feel like these companies are getting you to sell yr soul...AMc contract involves you signing it over to them and they can decide to stop printing whenever they wish!
